News about Kingsoft Office Suite Free 2012 has been floating around on dotTech’s forums for a while. I thought it is high time to share with dotTech-proper. (Thanks to Enfeus for informing us about this software on the forums!)
Kingsoft Office Suite Free 2012 is a freeware office suite product. It is made up of three main components, Kingsoft Writer, Kingsoft Presentation and Kingsoft Spreadsheet, and has the ability to open, save, read, write, and edit DOC/DOCX (Microsoft Word format), PPT/PPTX (Microsoft PowerPoint format), and XLS/XLSX (Microsoft Excel format) files. Other features include the ability to natively export documents as PDF, a spell checker, tab-centric interface, and document encryption. The best part is it provides all the functionality mentioned above in a relatively small package of 70 MB (installer is 70 MB — it takes up 200ish MB when installed).
As I said already, I read about this on the forums and wanted to share with everyone on the blog; I haven’t had time to personally play around with this software. However, it definitely looks very interesting and I am looking forward to hearing feedback from the dotTechies that do test it out.
Oh, and I’m not really Steve Jobs. April fools.
