Google Play is celebrating its first birthday with a week of sales and free downloads for Android

To celebrate the one year anniversary since the Android Market was rebranded into what you know today as the Google Play Store, Google is marking the occasion with a week of free downloads and discounts!

Throughout this whole week, you’ll be able to get special deals on everything from movies, music, apps and even magazines. As of posting, there are deals for a $15 gift card from Fancy and a free download of the pilot episode of Breaking Bad for US users, among others.

[@Tom] I agree. So far the offers have been crap.

Well… the first email I received had a bunch of worthless promotion. Frankly I was disappointed with the 1-year message. Google could do much better by exceeding our expectations… instead they only offered to slough off junk offers.
