Free Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Compact Edition ($39.95 value)!

I am sure post dotTechies have read my post on Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition, Paragon’s hand at offering a freebie image backup software. As the name suggests, there is also a commercial/paid version of Paragon Backup & Recovery: Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite ($69.95).  Furthermore, we all know that Paragon markets its products often by running promotions giving away modified versions of its commercial software for free. The promotion allowing people to get Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Compact Edition ($39.95 value) of free is just that.

For a limited time, starting January 29, 2010 at 00:00 EST and ending January 31, 2010 23:59 EST (dotTechies can actually start downloading it now… keep reading for more information), users (32-bit and 64-bit) can download Paragon Backup & Recovery Compact Edition for free! Keep in mind once you have the installation file and registration information, you can reinstall the program whenever you want.

So, what exactly is Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Compact Edition? It is a data backup (image + file data backup methods) software, primarily. This chart explains, in details, the features of Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Compact Edition and how it compares to the other Paragon software:

As shown in the chart, Paragon Backup & Recovery Compact Edition has more features than Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition but less features than Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite. (To understand how Paragon compares to other popular (image) backup software, take a glance at my post comparing free image backup software.)

Now as I explained earlier, the promotion of Paragon Backup & Recovery Compact Edition actually starts January 29, 2010 at 00:00 EST. However, dotTechies have the ability to start downloading Paragon Backup & Recovery Compact Edition starting right now because a Paragon representative contacted me personally informing me about this promotion and asked me to post about it. Since I have been busy with life and trying to fix dotTech’s slow loading all day, I wasn’t able to post about this earlier, so the “head start” for dotTechies is only ~30 minutes whereas it could have been longer, but hey, we will take all we get, right?

So, to get Paragon Backup & Recovery Compact Edition for free, follow these simple directions:

This site is no good anymore. When I registered, downloaded and entered the numbers in the email Paragon sent me, it said “Invalid serial” on installation. It will not install at all. You have to close the window.

  • Stephen Cohen

Well, the registration site started working again, but hours later I still have not received the registration key.

As of Saturday, Jan. 30, 2:30 pm EDT, the registration site for Paragon Backup compact is not working properly: Clicking on “Submit” just reloads the same page.

  • Thorn

Sounds interesting if it can do differentials, but no such product named “Compact” exists on their website for download, and now we have reports of 10.1 replacing 10.0, so what’s really going on here?

  • Mike

Thanks for the offering–primo to have around and use!

I’m surprised – OA++ has gotten some pretty decent reviews. I use ESET on my machines, so all I need is the OA Plus firewall. Fwiw, OA++ is available from the website for free today. Check for the promo code.

I realize this is the wrong place to ask, dear Ashraf, but could you please give just a quick rating for today’s Online Armor GOTD?

  • MikeR

Good luck with the Online Armor ++ review, Ashraf.

    But hey: don’t rush it.

Some people are clearly never going to be persuaded it’s even worth trying, to judge from a post @ #9 by someone who says it stinks because someone else told him it did. Ah. Right.

As for those dot.techies who are already enjoying the non-intrusive un-Comodo like behaviour of Online Armor Free or Premium on their PCs, well. . .

They’ll be more than happy to await your considered verdict.

I happen to believe that both the product and the support from the delightfully named Tall Emu is amongst the best anywhere (way to go, Australia!!) but naturally, wouldn’t wish to influence your own thinking in any way.

Though here’s a tenner to say it’s wonderful.

PS: thanks for the Paragon heads-up. Sadly, I’ve already done so much DLing today — Online Armor ++, WinPatrolAlmostPlus and a coupla other things — that I can’t cope with an even bigger DL. Will hang on for the next UK pooter magazine DVD cover disk featuring a Paragon offer.

I don’t really use Paragon Backup software, so I’m gonna pass on this one. I much prefer Clonezilla, which you wrote about before. Thanks anyway Ashraf!

  • Do Do

Online Armor++ i can save you the time. it stinks.
I do know some folks, excuse me I know of one person who actually bought it.he ran it for two days before removing it.I’m not sure on why he disliked it so much but heck he works for dell so can we trust his word?

Thanks much, Ashraf! I think I’m an average PC user, & honestly I have not found a backup system that actually works without a HUGE hassle & til now, every one has failed to do a good backup that verifies without errors. I read totally about 7 different backup aps just yesterday, cause I still don’t have a good backup copy, & Paragon Backup & Recovery honestly sounds best to me, & from reading the info at all the sites, Paragon is the only one that sounds like it will do a recovery without a hitch. I downloaded the Paragon B&R free file today, but hadn’t installed it yet when I found this one from you! :) I’m SOOOO hoping this works well for me! Thanks again! I love all you do here & at GOTD! :)

Usually when Paragon gives away their software, I’m one of the first to go and grab it. But this time around, I think I’ll stay away from their 10 line of products. Still have a copy of drive backup pro 9 from a previous GAOTD which has worked flawlessly on my xp machine. Sister has DB personal 9 on a vista laptop and works as well. I couldn’t say the same for the 10 products though.

  • mikey

i do not recommend this one. no good at all for the free version. this compact version comes only with some additional feature. the way it function will still be the same.

    Cons :
    1. very slow to boot from rescue cd – not worth the wait.
    2. error during real time backup quite often.
    3. difficult to unistall.

  • Ashraf

@Locutus: Eh. I am still not feeling it…

  • @Ashraf: I can’t wait :D :D

  • Ashraf

@Locutus: It will all be better when everyone appreciates your hard work and you will all fuzzy inside. Hopefully I should have your article(s) published by tomorrow. Right now I am trying to find the inside-urge to write a review on Online Armor++…

    @OldElmerFudd: You are welcome =).

  • OldElmerFudd

Thanks for this. I’ve had the Free edition on one of my machines for a while. Works fine.

  • That slow loading was just ending when I was uploading the pictures for my latest article. Only about 40% of them were uploaded the first time- I had to do it again. Thanks for that!
