Software Description
The following is a description of Kingsoft Presentation Professional 2012, as per the developer:
Kingsoft Presentation Professional 2012 is one of the major applications included in the Kingsoft Office Suite (along with Writer and Spreadsheets). It includes all of the industry-standard features for presentation software, including slide templates, artistic backgrounds, dynamic transitions, and the ability to support animation and sound within slides.
Kingsoft Presentation Professional 2012 is highly compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint, and posesses a highly similar interface and range of features. It is also significantly cheaper. It can not only import and export PowerPoint files, but also produce .dps and .pdf files. This makes delivery through removable media, or sharing over the Internet easier.

dotTech Advice
Kingsoft Software is a fairly new company that has appeared on the scene offering a mix of freeware and shareware products. In this situation, the product in question is Kingsoft’s office suites. Kingsoft offers three office software: Kingsoft Office Suite Free (freeware), Kingsoft Office Suite Standard ($49.95), and Kingsoft Office Suite Professional ($69.95). Each of these office suites has a word processor (Writer), a spreadsheet program (Spreadsheets), and a PowerPoint presentation program (Presentations), with the features varying slightly between each version of the suite.
The program being offered for free in this article is Kingsoft Presentation Professional, the Presentation that usually comes bundled with Kingsoft Office Suite Professional. My advice on Kingsoft Presentation Professional is the same as what I said for Kingsoft Writer Professional. The advantage of Kingsoft Presentation Professional is how well it mimics Microsoft Office (in terms of interface) and how well it works with PPT and PPTX files; Kingsoft Presentation Professional even has support for VBA. Overall, Kingsoft Presentation Professional is a very good PowerPoint-like program. However, my first recommendation for a free Microsoft Office alternative will be LibreOffice. LibreOffice is stable, feature filled, works (generally) well with Microsoft Office files, and has significant public support with LibreOffice/OpenOffice formats becoming the second most common formats after Microsoft Office.
If you are looking for an alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint, you are more than welcome to give Kingsoft Presentations Professional a try, but my suggestion would be give LibreOffice Impress (LibreOffice’s presentations program) a chance first.
