The Oculus Rift hasn’t been formally released to consumers just yet, but we’ve seen plenty of different implementations for it. There have of course been plenty of regular video games getting support for the virtual reality headset. There have also been other things, such as this hilarious guillotine simulator.
But what there hasn’t been, at least up until now, is an erotic virtual reality game for the Oculus Rift. Developer Jeroen Van den Bosch is hoping that their game, called Wicked Paradise, can be the “world’s first erotic virtual reality adventure game.” They’re not simply making a game with pornography in it, however, Bosch wants to build an actual game around the erotic themes, complete with its own story, characters and setting:
Also, story and setting is everything. The non-explicit sex scenes in Mass Effect are much more erotic than current available explicit adult video games. This is because you care about the characters in Mass Effect. A player will never feel very attracted to a virtual character if he or she doesn’t care. I believe that virtual reality is the perfect medium for an erotic video game because you can make the player feel really connected to your computer characters.
If this guy is saying that Mass Effect is one of their influences, then I’d say they’re off to a pretty good start.
Wicked Paradise will be delivered in multiple “episodes” and the first of these will offer a male point of view for the game. Later installments will include female player characters and even LGBT themes. The game is set to come out, along with the Oculus Rift, sometime in 2014.
